St.Thomas weddings just need that communication step. Feb 27

Putting your trust in a wedding planner 2000 miles away is a major step in having a destination wedding.  How does a Bridal couple pick a planner without that face to face meeting? When you want a St.Thomas wedding and you live in St.Paul, Mn, what kind of signs or signals should you be looking for?

Let’s start with communication which should be the first step.

Was your initial query returned in a timely manner?  Were left feeling less than excited and happy about having a St.Thomas wedding or a St.John Wedding?

There will always be a bit of apprehension up to the time you say “I do” but you should not have any feeling of being left twisting in the wind with questions left unanswered.

Customer Service is universal no matter where you are getting married.

Whether having a St.Thomas wedding or any destination wedding you deserve respect.

Communication and first impressions are formed in several different ways.

In today’s world the world wide web is just one way.

Browse the web and look at theSt. Thomasweddings or St.John Wedding sites.http://beachweddingsbydeb.com/

Remember a Website is like a store front. You would not enter a bakery if it had broken windows or dirty display cases? So it is fair to say that you can judge any business by its website.

  • If links don’t work.
  • If pictures are poorly done.
  • Pictures that are too small or hard to see
  • Improper loading of pictures.
  • Out dated information and or pictures
  • Hard to read font.
  • No on/off for music.
  • No Contact information that includes email, mail address and phone numbers.http://beachweddingsbydeb.com/virgin-island-wedding-contact.html
  • Not able to view the site on your phone, laptop, Ipad or any other web devise.
  • If it hasLas Vegastype blinking or animation.

In other words it should be a professionally designed site to reflect their professional standards.

Your wedding planner’s website should be like a welcome drink to a thirsty traveler.

What you see on the website may very will be reflective of your wedding ceremony.

As each baker is responsible for his store so is a planner responsible for the website.

St Thomas wedding elopment . Aug 22

When was the last time you had a really good day?  The kind of day where you could look up and thank the heavens above for life being so good.  When was the last time we counted out blessings?  I know, I know, the stocks have fallen, the 401K has taken a dump and the job market looks bleak. (or was it the other way around).

I am not trying to make light of serious events taking place in our world.  On the other hand its not the end of the world either.  Life goes on, maybe a bit simpler and not as fast paced but that could be a good thing.  People fall in love and get married but the days of Parents footing the bill, with a second mortgage on the house for their childrens wedding has passed.  Weddings are trending down in size and cost.

Fewer bridal couples are inviting the second and third cousins of the clan.  In fact more and more couples are heading south.

Yep ,South to the sun, blue water, and less worry.   Less worry because they do not have to create a wedding ceremony and reception that rivals the Future King of England.

The word elopement has come back into vogue.  Beach weddings, boat weddings, natural weddings are replacing the 100 to 300 guest ceremonies and receptions.

St.Thomas wedding on Megans beach Virgin Islands.

Where is it written that you have to be stressed, broke, tired and disappointed to have a really really, thank the heavens, wedding.  It isn’t and you don’t have to be any of the above.

Just take the first step and look.  Like I have always said Google is a girls best friend.

Pick a location.  (Hint St.Thomas is a U.S Territory.)  What would you really consider the dream location? Its pretty hard to not pick warm climate, sandy beaches, sunny sky and blue water all year around.

Then pick a date, if you want guest, send save the date cards.   If you don’t, just get the marriage license and plan for the two of you.   Regardless if you are have a small elopement or a ceremony with close family and friends you cannot beat the destination wedding for putting some romance and love in a less stress full setting.

Best of all I can do it all for you.  Really! just call me!

Beach Wedding location in St.Thomas Jul 02

What about getting married and or a reception on a boat!!!

When talking to bridal couples from the U.S. the first question asked is which is the best, pretties, most private location to get married on St.Thomas or St.John in the Virgin Islands?

While all of the beaches here are rated the best in the Caribbean for water, sand, sky and sun.  They do tend to get a bit busy.  Especially if picking a wedding date during high season.  December through March.

Cruise passengers abound on all the popular beach locations.  From the time the cruise ships dock and they can catch transportation, to 4:30 and its time to get back to the ship. Each and every beach within a taxi drive of the docks will be busy.

Most people are respectful of a couple and the bridal party standing on the beach saying vows.  But there are always the people that just wanna watch and join in the festivities.  Weddings are happy times are they not? Who would not want to be congratulated by Mr and Mrs Swimsuit from east town USA or Joe Speedo from swank Ville?

But if you are a couple, that want to enjoy a private occasion with family and friends. In addition to the anticipation of pictures of pristine waters and white beaches without  sun burnt Joe public in them. Your best option is getting off  the ship or leaving the hotel and getting on one of the chartered Catamarans.

Enjoy your guest and special day aboard a private charter. You can realize your dream of your toes in the sand ceremony, but just in a more private setting.  It does not take long to go from dock side to a beach setting of sand, warm water and sparse people.  You can still have the formal dress with arch, flower petal aisle and settings every bride has dreamed of.  So what is the catch you ask?  Well price for one.

Half day charters which include open bar and light snacks can run anywhere from $100.00 per person to with full lunch and open bar to $160.00 per person. When you compare those prices to a venue rental and food its really a no brainer.

What is really spectacular  is the sunset cruise. Watch the sunset while visiting with your guest after a beach ceremony from your own charter.

Ceremonies are priced separate from the charters and can be held on the beach or on the boat.  Possibilities are endless.  Compared to a reception at an enclosed hotel hall or sharing the beach or restaurant with fellow cruise ship passengers it’s a steal.

Best part, there is no worry about traffic, taxis or transportation of guest.  Pick up and drop off is right at the cruise ship dock or hotel.  Let the Captain and crew worry about schedules and getting everyone back to the ship on time.  This is your time, your day, and your memories.

Speaking of memories, the pictures taken on a sunset cruise is enough to last a life time

From Cruise Ship to Catamaran its that easy

Have the ceremony and reception without leaving the boat as it wanders past secluded islands and national parks.  See dolphins and sea turtles.

Toast your special day with rum punch or champagne.

Dock the Catamaran at a beach or have the ceremony on board

Have pictures taken on the beach and on the boat, dance with live steel pan or bring your iPod.

Toss flowers off of the bow to celebrate a long happy marriage.

It’s your day to celebrate the way you want with the guest you want and not a bunch of strangers.

If this is something you would  like to check into call or email Deb@beachweddingsbydeb.com  We have custom made packages to fit your perfect wedding day.

Beaches are less croweded and receptions more private on the cat.

What time of year is best for a wedding? Mar 25

Its spring and love is in the air.  The birds return to nest, the trees leaf out, and the ice cream truck once again starts its neighborhood visits.

It is also the time of year that bridal couples start making plans for weddings.  In certain parts of the hemisphere it is much more pleasant to have a spring, summer or even autumn wedding.   No one wants to contend with snow, sleet, mud and slush.  Especially on the happiest day of their life.

That is where we have it so nice here with the beach wedding in the Virgin Islands.  What can I say after 10 years here I love it.

I love being a wedding planner and wedding officiate it just is so much fun to help couples start a new beginning.   I love not having to worry about the weather for a wedding.

The temperature varies about 10 degrees from winter to summer. Enough to let you know when summer is in session.

We, just like in the main land, celebrate the change of seasons, birds returning from the south, whales swimming past us on their way north, trees blooming buds for new mangos and iguanas getting all lovey with each other.

This brings me to the topic of this blog.  Brides do not limit your wedding plans to spring, summer or autum.   Winter here in the U.S Virgin islands is a great time to celebrate you wedding.

Guest enjoy the warm sun, they love the break for all of cold and snow or ice.

Christmas down here is one of my favorite times of year to have a wedding.

Cruises are abundant with stops in St.Thomas long enough for you and guest to enjoy the whole day of celebrating your wedding.  Not only will you get the clear blue clear sky, turquoise water and warm sun but you will also enjoy the holiday season by experiencing it in a different culture and custom.

We still decorate as you all do up north.  One look at the town square in St. Thomas from last holiday season says it all. The festival of lights is just as bright and beautiful as in the states if not more so.

Making for a great season to get married and have a happy holiday .

25% discount on all custom designed Graphi wedding album with booking Dec 17

Since your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, it only makes sense to have pictures taken.   Pictures are memories, to keep and give to parents and friends.

I have discussed about if you should have Uncle Joe take your wedding pictures or getting a professional photographer in previous blogs. This time I would like to talk about what to do with your pictures after the wedding.

Do keep them on the DVD? Send them in emails, print a few out to give to parents? Maybe frame a couple for keepsakes?

Let me tell you, when living life as a couple, things happen, jobs change, children are born, you move to different living locations, life just takes you down a winding road.

Along the way, what happened to the DVD of the wedding?  When you hit that special anniversary and the kids want to know when, where and what was it like.  What have you got to show them?   If you are like me, you know there is a shoe box somewhere with everything in it but where is it?   Where is the DVD?  And oh ya, this maybe 20 years later, do they even have DVD players anymore?

  Remember 8 track tapes?

Just remember that pictures never go out of style and can always be found when in a photo album.

Now, with that being said and because I believe so strongly in it, we are giving a 25 %  discount on any custom Graphi Album  to  our wedding couples.

This photo album will hold memories and a real life story.  It will show a progression of two people who were separate come together.   It will show the sun, sand, sky and ocean of the best wedding location in the world.  It will hold their wedding ceremony from beginning to end.

Book any St Thomas wedding, St. John Wedding or wedding renewal package from Beach Weddings by Deb that contains wedding photography.

The  Graphi Album will be custom designed by Gary Felton.

To view detail a Graphi Album.

This offer expires May21, 2011.  All weddings must be booked and the date reserved to qualify.    Only eligible for wedding held in 2011.

Don’t let a lost DVD become your memory.
